concurso de capas · #CarvedAtCaire

Official Rules

TODO owner: draft. Fill and confirm every marked field in lib/contest.ts and have a lawyer read these rules before the contest opens.

No purchase necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. This is a contest of skill: winners are chosen by judging, not by chance. Open only to legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 or older. Void where prohibited.

1.Sponsor

The Concurso de Capas (the “Contest”) is run by Cairé Roasters (“Sponsor”), [TODO owner: the sponsor’s street address]. Questions: [email protected].

The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram, Meta or TikTok. By entering through either platform you also agree to its terms, and you release it from any liability connected with the Contest.

2.Eligibility

Open to legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority where they live, if higher) when they enter. Employees, contractors and agents of Sponsor, and the members of their immediate families and households, are not eligible.

3.Entry period

The Contest runs in monthly rounds. Each round’s entry period starts at 12:00:00 a.m. Pacific Time on the first day of the month and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time on its last day (the “Entry Period”). Sponsor’s clock is the official clock. An entry made outside a round’s Entry Period does not count for that round.

  • November 2026, theme “A Chegada” (the arrival): entries November 1, 2026 to November 30, 2026; winners announced by December 15, 2026 [TODO owner: confirm].
  • December 2026, theme “A Peleja” (the duel): entries December 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026; winners announced by January 15, 2027 [TODO owner: confirm].
  • January 2027, theme “A Profecia” (the prophecy): entries January 1, 2027 to January 31, 2027; winners announced by February 15, 2027 [TODO owner: confirm].

Sponsor may add later rounds by publishing their dates and themes at caireroasters.com/concurso before they open; these rules apply to them.

4.How to enter

Make a cordel cover from a photograph with the free Carve yourself tool at caireroasters.com/cordel, titled for the round’s theme. Then enter it in one of two ways, both free:

  1. Instagram or TikTok: publish the cover as a public post during the Entry Period, with #CarvedAtCaire and a tag of @caire.cafe in the caption. The account must stay public until the round is judged.
  2. Email: send the cover as an attached image to [email protected] during the Entry Period, with the subject “#CarvedAtCaire entry”, your full name and your state of residence. No social media account is needed.

Limit: one entry per person per round. If a person enters more than once in a round, only the first eligible entry counts. Entries made by automated means are void.

Each entry must be the entrant’s own work, made from a photograph the entrant took or has the right to use. Every person shown must be at least 18 and must have agreed to appear. An entry must not be obscene, hateful, harassing or defamatory, must not infringe anyone’s rights, and must not show third-party logos or trademarks. Sponsor may disqualify any entry that does not meet these rules.

5.Judging

After each Entry Period ends, a panel of Sponsor’s team judges every eligible entry of that round, out of 100 points, on these criteria:

  • The cut (40 points): How the woodcut reads: the face, the light, how deep the knife went.
  • The cover (30 points): Title, ink and frame working as one cordel cover, readable across a market.
  • The theme (20 points): How the cover answers the month.
  • The line (10 points): The caption: one line about the face on the cover.

The highest-scoring entry wins the round; the next two are the runners-up. A tie is broken by the higher score for the cut; if still tied, by a vote of the panel. The panel’s decisions are final.

6.Prizes and approximate retail value

Each round:

  • One winner: the winning cover printed as a 12 × 18 in poster, and one 12 oz box of the Ciclo de Cairé blend of the moon the winner was born under. Approximate retail value (ARV): $66 [TODO owner: confirm].
  • Two runners-up: a set of four die-cut stickers of the gods. ARV each: $28 [TODO owner: confirm].

Total ARV of all prizes in a round: $122 [TODO owner: confirm]. Prizes ship free, to addresses in the United States only. No cash in place of a prize, no transfer and no substitution by the winner; Sponsor may substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible for any taxes on their prizes.

7.Odds

There is no drawing and no element of chance: winners are chosen by judging. The likelihood of winning depends on the number and the quality of the eligible entries in a round.

8.Winner notification

Potential winners are told by direct message on the platform they entered on, or by email for emailed entries, by the round’s announcement date. A potential winner must reply within seven days with a US shipping address (and, for the winner, a date of birth, to send the blend of their birth moon) and, where the law allows, sign a declaration of eligibility and a publicity release. A potential winner who cannot be reached, does not reply in time or is not eligible forfeits the prize, and Sponsor may award it to the next-highest-scoring eligible entry.

9.Publicity and use of entries

Entrants keep the rights to their entries. By entering, each entrant gives Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to reproduce, display and share the entry, credited to the entrant’s name or handle, on Sponsor’s website (including the winners’ gallery at caireroasters.com/concurso) and social media accounts, in connection with the Contest, for two years after the round ends. Sponsor may print the winning entry to make the prize.

Except where prohibited, winners agree that Sponsor may use their name or handle, city and state, and winning entry for publicity about the Contest, without further payment. Each entrant confirms that they own or may use the photograph and that everyone shown agreed to appear.

10.Privacy

Carve yourself makes the cover in the entrant’s own browser; the photograph is not uploaded to Sponsor. What an entrant sends Sponsor (an emailed entry, a winner’s contact and shipping details, a winner’s date of birth) is used only to run the Contest and deliver prizes, as set out in the privacy policy. Posts on Instagram and TikTok are public under those platforms’ own terms.

11.General conditions

Sponsor may disqualify anyone who tampers with the Contest, breaks these rules, or acts in a disruptive or unsportsmanlike way. If the Contest cannot run as planned because of fraud, technical failure or anything else beyond Sponsor’s control, Sponsor may modify, suspend or cancel it and judge the eligible entries received before the problem. Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, incomplete or misdirected, or for any platform being unavailable.

12.Release and limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, entrants release Sponsor and its employees and agents from any liability for injury, loss or damage arising from taking part in the Contest or from accepting or using a prize.

13.Disputes and governing law

These rules are governed by the laws of the State of [TODO owner: the governing state], without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute is resolved individually, without any class action, only in the state or federal courts located in [TODO owner: the county and state of the courts].

14.Void where prohibited

The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law, and is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

15.Winners list

The winners of each round are posted at caireroasters.com/concurso after its announcement date. For a written list, email [email protected] with the subject “Winners list” within 60 days after the round ends.
